BERWICK’S best BMXers are off to Rotterdam.
The Millar brothers – Corey, 9, and Toby, 7, will represent Australia at the upcoming UCI World BMX Championships in the Netherlands next month.
The young duo, which race for the Pure Young Guns team and are supported by Trail and Track BMX, love their riding and every spare moment is devoted to racing, pulling manuals and getting big air over the jumps.
They race for Frankston BMX Club and after first going down to the track, all of a sudden every spare moment has become devoted to BMX and flying around the country to compete at different races.
The pair competed recently at the Australian National BMX Championships in Shepparton, both earning high finishes with Toby placing 24th out of 60 in the under-eight boys and Corey coming 32nd in the under-10s.
“Going to all different tracks,” Corey said, “Riding around the country… we went to Brisbane for nationals.”
Corey said he would love to make it into a final for the World Championships, but if he were to win a medal it would be amazing.
Toby’s passion for the sport helps him catch up with friends, new and old, and follow his passion for – pumping the pedals and reaching turbo speeds.
“Meeting new people and I get to see my friends,” Toby said, “… and going really fast.”
The duo wanted to thank their parents for getting them into the sport and taking them all over the world to crank the pedals.
