Miners make meal of opposition

THE Berwick Miners have consolidated their strong recent form with a gritty 8-0 win at home over the South East Predators on Sunday.
It was a huge result for the club, which lost a number of players to the start-up Predators prior to the season.
Miners coach Mark Petana was eagerly awaiting the clash as it gave him the chance to coach against Mark Levin, formerly of the Miners organisation. Levin has mentored Petana throughout stages of his debut season as a head-coach and he’s one of a growing number in the Gridiron Victoria community pushing for the Miners to succeed.
Berwick’s attention now switches to its next game – at home in round nine against the undefeated Geelong Buccaneers, who currently sit atop the Division 1, Conference B ladder.
The Miners sit in fourth place in the Conference A standings with three wins from their seven games so far but only two points adrift of the Bendigo Dragons and traditional rivals, the Croydon Rangers.
Berwick will face the Buccaneers on Saturday 28 June, from 1pm, at Rawling Field, Sydney Pargeter Reserve in Endeavour Hills. The Miners are urging as many local fans as possible to come along and enjoy the action-packed sport of gridiron.
