IT’S great that the Victorian Government is finally looking into expanding the Monash Freeway from two to three lanes, not before time. However, if we are to take this proposal seriously, it must be done from the South Gippsland Freeway merge in Endeavour Hills to at least the Cardinia Creek crossing on the Princes Freeway in Beaconsfield, past the old Princes Highway turn-off. This extra stretch from Clyde Road to the Cardinia Creek crossing should also include the forgotten on-ramp travelling east from the old Princes Highway interchange and onto the Princes Freeway. It should also include the other forgotten off-ramp travelling west from the Princes Freeway at the old Princes Highway and lead to the building of the new O’Shea Road extension up to Soldiers Road. These additional improvements would allow much better access to and from the Princes Freeway, both east and west, for residents in the Berwick and Beaconsfield localities.
