Spirits high in three-all draw

By JARROD POTTER

GETTING their money’s worth, Dandenong City and North Geelong fans were greeted with an entertaining 3-3 draw as Juso Julardzija opened the accounts for North Geelong in the 10th minute before Sean Seavill struck the first of his brace as he strolled past the goalkeeper to level the ledger in minute 14.
A frenzy in the box gave Simon Storey the goal and with it pushed the visitors ahead 2-1 in the 16th minute.
Mark Paleka brought the deficit down in the 39th minute with a treat for his Elcho Park home-ground fans before the half-time whistle left the match well and truly at a stalemate.
It was Juso Julardzija that ruined Dandenong City’s parade to victory as he pushed North Geelong ahead in the 55th minute before Sean Seavill’s brace helped secure a point.
Seavill’s strike with half-an-hour to go brought the margin back to level pegging as he benefitted from the superb defensive efforts of Keegan Ziada to dispossess and lay off the assist that Seavill comfortably finished off.
Dandenong City will be hoping for a win in its clashes with Brunswick City on Saturday at Frank Holohan Reserve in Endeavour Hills.
WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE AND STATE LEAGUES
Casey Comets took their greatest win of the season with a 5-2 belting of Monbulk Rangers on a dreary Friday night up in the Dandenongs.
Goals to Tayla Vlaeminck (2’), Lara Croft (19’), Angela Durston-Ryan (24’ and 55’) and Jade Barnden (82’) saw off the Monbulk attack, which to the Rangers credit never gave up – scoring two late goals to avert a complete rout at home.
Berwick City Women’s State League 1 clash with Keilor Park was washed out due to Sunday’s horrific weather and is tentatively rescheduled for Sunday at 3pm at Jack Thomas Reserve.
STATE LEAGUES
The cross-town showdown emphatically steered Berwick City’s way as the visitors rolled Doveton SC 4-2. Ioasa Saemo’s sixth goal of the year and the Doves second through Liam Ryan weren’t enough to guide the home side to victory as Berwick City slammed on four goals via a Ifelowoa Ogidan brace and singles to Ash Savanah and captain Orlando Mejias – who smashed in his 10th of the year to only trail Seaford’s David Greening (19 goals) in the league goal kicking table.
The win pushes Berwick City to second in State League 2 South East – equal on wins with Mooroolbark, while Doveton falls from second to fifth.
Casey Comets’ men improved its record to 4-1-7 with a 3-1 win over Doncaster Rovers, leading into a home-ground clash with FFA Cup round of 32 qualifiers South Springvale on Saturday afternoon.
Berwick City hosts Beaumaris while Doveton SC travels to clash with Nunawading City.
