THE City of Casey has more than a few art studios around the way.
And this Saturday and Sunday art enthusiasts will get the chance to visit them all during the Open Studio Weekend, an event co-ordinated in conjunction with the City of Casey’s Winter Arts Festival.
Passionate artist and organiser Jenny Koch said the Open Studio weekend was a great way for fellow artists within the community to connect with each other and had been since it was started up roughly five years ago.
“We get lots of visitors making a day trip out of it, going around visiting all the open studios,” Ms Koch said.
“It’s a great way to connect with people and to see what everyone’s doing.”
The open weekend circuit consists of six household studios in Casey, taking visitors from Berwick, to Hampton Park and to Narre Warren North and Cannons Creek.
Guests are given a map for each location and treated to two days of art displays, demonstrations and tea and coffee.
“It’s great, we’ll be doing workshops as well through that time,” Ms Koch said.
“They’ll be demonstrations of what we do. It’s a great way to put ourselves out there and make new friends.
“Each person will have work in their own studios, and they’ll be working on the day.
“We’ll be able to show the processes that we use, why we do what we do and our inspiration.
“It personalises the whole thing.”
The Open Studio Weekend will be held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July from 10am to 5pm.
City of Casey’s Winter Arts Festival kicked off in June and will run until the end of August.
