IT’S all quiet on the eastern front after an altercation between former AFL star Dean Rice and senior Warragul Industrials’ club figure Peter Brewster on Saturday.
Rice, who played 234 games with St Kilda and Carlton and is currently the senior coach at the EDFL East-leading Longwarry, had a heated exchange with Brewster – the father of Dusties’ trio Nathan, Danny, and player-coach Shane – at Warragul’s Western Park. When contacted by the Gazette, Dusties’ club president Andrew Osler said he didn’t want to comment on the “alleged incident”; while Crows counterpart Terry Serong added; “I’ve got nothing to say either, really.
“It was just a bit of banter,” he said.
“It was an important, tough game with a bit at stake and tensions can boil over at times.”
There were witnesses who saw the incident, and it could yet be dealt with by league officials, though at the time of going to print the EDFL’s head office was yet to receive any complaints.
