New season rolls in

BOWLS season is rolling around quickly and the Hampton Park Bowls Club set the wheels in motion with the opening of its greens for the 2014/15 season on the weekend.
The weather could not have been more perfect as club patron, and Narre Warren South MP, Judith Graley rolled the first jack for the new season.
Ladies’ president Helen Lambert then followed with the first bowl for the season … which was a toucher!
Life-members of the club, which is now in its 21st year, Keith Damon and Geoff Ladner opened rink two, while rink three was officially opened for the new season by chairman Neville Hendrie and men’s president Sean McDonald.
After the opening of the green a game of 12 ends was played with 14 teams of four enjoying the winter sun and the game. Judith Graley played on rink nine in her club shirt and did quite well for a first attempt.
Afternoon tea was served after the game which was followed by the presentation to the club champions and runner-up from the previous season. Club members turned out in force with a more than 95 percent turnout.
The club now has its own website and is welcomes people to find out more at www.hamptonpark.bowls.com.au
