A MAN told police he was running late for a new job when he was caught driving at almost 44km/h over the speed limit in Berwick last week.
Police detected the P-plate driver travelling at 144km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Monash Freeway at about 6.55am on Thursday 4 September.
The 20-year-old male driver told police he was speeding because he was running late for a new job.
The driver, from Ferntree Gully, received a $627 fine for speeding, and another $148 fine for not displaying his p-plates and lost nine demerit points.
