POLICE have charged a man with assault after an incident in Narre Warren that left a woman fighting for her life in hospital.
Benjamin Day, 27, faced an out of sessions’ court hearing on Sunday and was charged with intentionally causing serious injury and recklessly causing serious injury.
Police allege the 32-year-old woman was assaulted in Madison Avenue, near the corner of Josephine Avenue, between 12.30am and 1am after leaving a nearby house party.
The woman, who it’s understood was known to Mr Day, was taken to The Alfred hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
Mr Day was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (Monday).
