A BRIEF that details plans for the City of Casey’s housing strategy over the next 15-20 years has been accepted by councillors.
The brief, which was presented to councillors on Tuesday night, said that the council proposed to prepare a housing strategy to ensure that its community had appropriate housing for the future.
Mayor Geoff Ablett supported the idea of a housing strategy and said that it “really does work well”.
He withdrew the motion to consider the report saying the strategy was “something that we need to look at”.
The brief also stated that work on preparing the strategy will commence immediately.
It anticipated that the strategy will be prepared over the next 12 months with a draft strategy presented to councillors for approval in mid-2015.
At its meeting on 1 July 2014, councillors considered a report on Casey’s low density residential zones and asked officers to present a brief for the strategy to a future meeting.
Officers returned the brief for councillors to consider at the meeting on Tuesday night.
