Cash for survival

CHILDREN from the Australian Air League’s Berwick Squadron will brush up on their survival training skills after receiving a funding boost from Telstra.
The Berwick Squadron received a $1200 grant distributed from the Telstra Kids Fund, which the group will use to buy equipment to train its members in field craft, first aid and navigation.
Since 2002, the Telstra Kids Fund has been used to contribute more than $8.8 million to some 7600 community projects for kids.
“All around Australia, kids are building on ideas, playing in a team, making music and creating art,” Telstra country wide area general manager for Melbourne South East Vicky Allen said.
“But sometimes little projects, such as the squadron’s bush survival course, need a bit of a hand to get started.
“That’s why each year, Telstra Kids Fund provides one million dollars in grants – on behalf of Telstra employees – for projects that help our kids play and learn.”
