NARRE WARREN BOWLS
PENNANT RESULTS
MIDWEEK – ROUND 3
Division one played Noble Park at home and after their narrow loss last week came back with a strong performance with two rinks winning and a 25-shot win, 65/40. Shirley Bell, Judy Naughton, Wilma Stevenson and Ian Brotherton won 22/12. Carl Lapham, Wilma Harringsma, Eric Sydenham and Jimmy Millar won 28/9. Trus Heneman, Keith Mark, Rod Lane and Enid Gibb lost 15/19.
Division three were away at Waverley Golf and continued some great form, making it three from three with a hard fought win by eight shots, 61/53. Two rinks up and one down, an unexpected start by our twos, yes, it is a long season but the guy’s and girls are enjoying the winning feeling. Cathy Pater, Janice Moran, Nancy Pugh and John Green won 21/18. Sep VanMaanen, Andy Tobler, Gary Gilchrist and Ray Pigdon won 22/14. Arthur Fitt, Peter Pater, Ethel VanMaanen and Micki Horton lost 18/21.
SATURDAY
Division two hosted our close neighbours Hampton Park and, with two rinks up and two down, ran out winners by seven shots, 79/72.
Ernesto Vergaro, Alan Dawson, Iain Stevenson and Jeff Parker won 32/9. Karen Murray, Keith Mark, Greg Cowan and Ian Brotherton won 20/2. Jimmy Millar, Paul O’Day, Wilma Stevenson and Rod Lane lost 14/20. Shirley Bell, Eric Sydenham, Neville Bradley and Erik Lutyters lost 15/18.
Division three travelled to Cranbourne and played on a difficult green but after some close rinks were still good enough to bring home the spoils with a hard-fought seven-shot win, 83/76. It was not an easy day but the teams’ persistence paid off with three of the four rinks winners.
Ray Pigdon, Carl Lapham, Kerry Davis and Reg Johnstone won 18/16. Stan Firmin, Rick Hoare, Andy Kidd and John Heathcote lost 19/26. Luka Klarica, Jim Sheahan, Wilma Harringsma and Geoff Miller won 23/20. Glen Cadman, Fred Fox, John Zanon and Stan Robinson won 23/14.
Division seven played on the fast Pakenham carpet – a very difficult assignment for visiting teams – and were totally outclassed but it was a great learning curve for our inexperienced team.
Darren Moore, Janice Moran, Ethel VanMaanen and first time skip Graeme Dodd won 27/9. Arthur Fitt, Steve Boyd, Rudi Pompe and John Green lost 16/27. Leo McGeary, Stan Birkett, Damian Brick and Micki Horton lost 7/43. Peter Lister, Reg Young, Jack Norman and Peter Castricum lost 16/19.
Division eight was at home to Hampton Park and played an undermanned team and had a four shot win, 40/36. Clubs find it difficult at times to put a full team on the green in the lower divisions which is not encouraging for novice bowlers.
Zade Bulmer, Jack Castricum, Stan Bulmer and Ern Rodrigues lost 17/24. Travis Moore, Peter Pater, Norm Hosmer and Andy Tobler won 23/12.
