VICTORIAN SUB-DISTRICT CRICKET ASSOCIATION
REVIEW – Round 2

ENDEAVOUR HILLS (146) has pulled one out of the fire against Noble Park (138), coming from a seemingly impossible position at the end of day one to roll the reigning premiers at Sydney Pargeter Reserve.
Friendless in the betting market (if we had one) after the first day’s play, the Eagles produced a stunning bowling display to pull off an upset victory.
Resuming at 1/66, with Sanjeewa De Silva (30 not out) and Marasinghe Perera (26 not out) seemingly in control, the visitors lost quick wickets, De Silva (35) and Perera (31) gone early on day two, before Chris Pereira (4/43), Vaughan Baxter (3/20) and Shane Peake (2/9) upped the ante even further.
Pereira and Baxter swept through the middle order before Peake claimed two of the last three wickets to fall to spark joyous celebrations.
The Eagles took a little of the gloss off their victory, slumping to 8/70 in their second innings as Noble Park speedster Rizan Mawzoon (5/37) made it nine wickets for the match.
Endeavour Hills travel to Croydon for the first one-dayer of the season this Saturday, while Noble Park host Mt Waverley at Moodemere Street.
