REVIEW – ROUND 3
ENDEAVOUR Hills is knocking on the door of the top six on the South/East 1st XI ladder after an impressive bowling performance clinched victory against Croydon on Saturday.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat at Croydon Oval, the Eagles were rolled for just 153 in the 45th over with skipper Aaron Walter (2/17), Chris Brown (2/23) and Mitch Rosam (2/33) claiming two scalps apiece for the home side.
Croydon was seemingly doing it comfortably in its chase but after a 28-run opening stand, the side fell in a heap – losing three wickets for just 13 runs and, ultimately falling 44 runs short of victory -bowled out for 110 in the 36th over.
The middle order offered little resistance with Eagles’ skipper Chris Pereira and Shean Vanderwert affecting key run-outs after Pereira claimed the first three wickets to fall.
Jamil Hassan was Croydon’s leading scorer with just 23 – a host of other Croydon batsmen unable to capitalise on their starts. Six of the home side’s batsmen reached double figures but Hassan was the only one to pass 20.
Endeavour Hills now sits seventh on the South/East 1st XI ladder, level on points with the fourth-placed Bayswater.
The Eagles will host Ormond in a two-day game starting this Saturday from 1pm at Sydney Pargeter Reserve.
