VICTORIAN PREMIER CRICKET
THE overs played in Victorian Premier Cricket on the weekend varied wildly throughout the fixture, with just 34 completed in the Casey-South Melbourne game at Casey Fields but, somehow, 92 at Shepley Oval for the Dandenong Panthers’ clash with Frankston Peninsula.
Casey-South Melbourne is in a rock-solid position against Hawthorn-Monash University after being sent in to bat at home.
Openers Josh Holden (63) and Michael Wallace (40) put on a 111-run first wicket stand before both fell in quick succession.
The Swans will resume on day two on 2/131 in what is easily their best start with the willow all season but, unfortunately for Chris Hall’s men, hopes of securing a result appear slim.
Casey-South Melbourne is currently last on the Victorian Premier Cricket ladder – yet to register a point so far this season.
