A CAST of hundreds turned out to honour a significant event in Australia’s history at the Cranbourne RSL on Tuesday.
School children left the biggest impression on senior vice-president of the Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL Sub-Branch Bill Sheppard on Remembrance Day, who said it was great to see so many “young Australians there.”
“There were quite a few elderly people as well, but there were probably more school children than older people,” he said.
Mr Sheppard said Remembrance Day was a “day for everyone, for all Australians in general”.
He estimated that between 200 and 300 people turned out for the event on Tuesday morning and said it would be great to see an even bigger cross section of the community at future ceremonies.
The Cranbourne and Dandenong RSLs have been amalgamated for four years and annually honour Remembrance Day, as well as Anzac Day.
