Swans scattered in hitback

VICTORIAN PREMIER CRICKET
CASEY-South Melbourne (6/274 dec) remains winless – at the foot of the Premier cricket ladder – after its bowlers were pounded by Hawthorn-Monash University (5/278) at Casey Fields on Saturday.
The Swans resumed at 2/131 and seemingly did everything right in setting the Uni boys a difficult chase with Daniel Watson (66 not out), skipper Chris Hall (32) and Rob Elston (22) helping to post an imposing score.
But from there it all went horribly wrong… no Swans bowler was spared as Uni skipper Matt Goodier (85), along with Benny Howell (63) and Locky Inglis (55 not out), made a meal of the Swans attack.
This was a heart-breaking loss for the Swans who travel to Toorak Park this Saturday for day-one of their round seven clash with Prahran.
TOM Donnell (119) was magnificent on Saturday leading Dandenong (3/231) to victory against Frankston Peninsula (216) at Shepley Oval.
The left-handed opener’s seventh century, in a career that has seen more than 5000 runs flow from his blade, set the home side on the path to victory in the first two-day game of the season.
Donnell lost his usual partner in crime, fellow opener Brett Forsyth (9) early, before settling in with another club stalwart Peter Sweeney (76), to get the Panthers hunt back on track.
The pair put on a scintillating 197-run stand.
The Panthers take to the Junction Oval this Saturday for day one of their clash with St Kilda.
