A LIGHT was certainly shining in Narre Warren South over the weekend.
The Leukaemia Foundation’s annual Light the Night twilight walk was held on Sunday 9 November at Strathaird Recreation Reserve, in which the community was again invited to attend and donate to cancer research.
Narre Warren South Light the Night organiser Donna Fox said Strathaird reserve was abuzz with live music, face painting and jumping castles on Sunday.
“The walk at dusk went well with over 200 people participating. We walked along the path around the oval,” she said.
“It was such an amazing sight to see all those coloured lanterns making their way along the path for such a good cause, cars were even pulling over into Ormond Road to find out what was going on.”
In total, $5100 was raised for the Leukaemia Foundation at the Narre Warren event.
Leukaemia Foundation Victorian general manager Stephanie Hechenberger said Light the Night was an “uplifting” event which averaged more than 30,000 participants.
“Light the Night also sends a powerful message to people who are trying to cope with the challenges of blood cancer – that even in the darkest times, because of the Leukaemia Foundation, they won’t walk the path alone,” she said.
