Koch shoots for Whitton

CARDINIA BEACONHILLS GOLF

THE 2014 Beaconhills Open was played on Saturday with Zac Koch from Victoria Golf Club winning the 36-hole State Ranking Ivo Whitton event.
Playing off a handicap of six, Koch shot 69 in the first round and 75 in the second winning the event with a gross score of 144 from runner-up Stewart Allen (3) from Cardinia Beaconhills with 145. The nett winner was Bradley McGill (5) from Berwick Montuna with 137 and runner-up was Rob Kelly (2) from Cardinia Beaconhills with 143.
In Saturday’s daily stableford competition David Crowe (7) took out the A Grade with 39 points, Adrian Besley (10) was the B-Grade winner with 42 points and George Kikas (28) returned the best score in the C Grade with an impressive 44 points.
Vern Hill (19) won the Sunday competition for the second week running, playing off a handicap of 19, he returned the best score in the stroke event with 67 nett on a count-back to Robert Allison (24).
Warren Sutton may not have won the daily comp, but he did score a hole-in-one on the 15th hole on Sunday.
Brad Vigilante also had something to brag about, after scoring an Eagle on the 14th in both Saturday and Sunday’s comp.
MIDWEEK
Tuesday’s stroke event was won by Philip Read (13) with a nett score of 65 from runner-up Ronald Cook (8) with 68 nett on a count-back.
In Thursday’s stableford event 82 players took the the course and Michael Tarley (13) won the A Grade with 44 points, while Shane Turner (16) was the B Grade winner also with 44 points.
LADIES
Congratulations to Michelle Ahern winner of the 2014 Medal of Medallists with 102/75.
Wednesday’s par event was won by Cora Shovelton (31) with plus one. Michelle Ahern also took out nearest the pin on the sixth and fifteenth holes. Bev Eckhardt won the A-Grade Pro Pin and Adrienne Wilson won the B-Grade Pro Pin.
