Write response to violent crime

THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD Kelsey saw the violence on the news and she cried.
Disturbed by a broadcast in which an elderly man was brutally beaten and robbed, the Narre Warren teenager was spurred to pen a letter to the News denouncing the violence that kept flashing over her TV screen.
“I honestly don’t know who to send this to, as I’m unaware of who will actually care and listen,” Kelsey wrote.
“But I think it’s time that someone heard a teenager’s thoughts on violence.”
With the letter being received in the wake of White Ribbon month, the News spoke to Kelsey about what inspired her to write the piece and what she hopes it can achieve. 131892 Picture: ROB CAREW
