THE Narre Warren SES has been awarded a La Trobe Community Award for almost a decade worth of service to the area.
The Narre Warren unit, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2015, was recognised by La Trobe MP Jason Wood last month for the significant contribution it had made to the community, attending more than 8000 requests for assistance since being established.
There are 43 volunteers in the Narre Warren unit, which runs yearly awareness campaigns throughout the City of Casey.
Narre Warren deputy controller Tim Howell said the unit was extremely proud to receive the recognition.
“Ordinarily, these awards are given to individual members of the community so it is great to see the entire unit recognised and rewarded for teamwork,“ he said.
