Input call for future housing

CASEY council has invited the community to have input on the design of the Centre Road housing development in Narre Warren.
The Draft Centre Road Development Plan will provide guidance for the future development of the 24.3 hectare site, zoned for residential development in Centre Road, west of Deblin Drive.
“The land was recently purchased by a developer, who has worked closely with council to deliver a draft development plan for the site,” Casey Mayor Mick Morland said.
“The site is one of the largest in-fill development sites, which is a housing development site within an existing urban area, in Melbourne’s south-east.
“The land provided council with a unique opportunity to locate high density housing close to jobs, services and public transport within the Fountain Gate-Narre Warren Central Business District (CBD) area, in particular Narre Warren village.”
The area has been designated as a high-order Metropolitan Activity Centre in the Plan Melbourne Strategy.
Cr Sam Aziz said the draft plan outlined an exciting future for the site, with an anticipated 700 dwellings planned for the land.
“A key principal of the draft plan is to design a high amenity residential estate with range of housing types to meet increasingly diverse needs,” he said.
“The draft plan outlines a blueprint for a variety of housing at the site including detached dwellings, row housing, townhouses and apartments in the longer term.
“The site will contain four precincts, each to have a set density ranging from 25 to 40 plus dwellings per hectare.”
The Draft Centre Road Development Plan will be on exhibition until Monday 19 January.
