STUDENTS from Berwick Lodge Primary School have brought some Christmas singing cheer to Casey this week.
As part of the school’s festive celebrations, on Wednesday the students performed a selection of well-known Christmas songs to celebrate the end of the year.
Performing Arts teacher Jyade Old had worked with the students in recent weeks so they could perform their favourite Christmas songs, including Jingle Bells and All I want for Christmas.
The finale of the Christmas Concert saw the Prep to Grade 2 students sing together, belting out a rendition of The 12 Days of Christmas.
The Berwick Lodge students are also giving out gifts this holiday seasons, as well as receiving them.
Families have purchased gifts and placed them under the school’s Christmas tree in the office foyer, which will then be collected and distributed to people in need by a representative from the Christian Helpers in Primary Schools program (CHIPS).
CHIPS, based in the state’s south-east, was established in 1999 and has worked closely with Berwick Lodge over a number of years.
Berwick Lodge acting assistant principal Sandra McCrum said it was incredibly rewarding to assist support families who need help the most.
“This provides our students and families with the opportunity to give back to our community and support those less fortunate than ourselves,” she said.
