It’s captain Quirk

AN EARLY 21st birthday present greeted DDCA under-21 captain Dylan Quirk on Sunday, with his side holding aloft the Neil Wright Shield along with his selection in to the VMCU under-21 team.
The 21-year-old Quirk who plays for Springvale South, has been sensational in the Victorian Metropolitan Cricket Union (VMCU) carnival, striking 333 runs at 83.
The former Dandenong Premier player knocked in 90, 60 and a whopping 142 not out against North Metro to finish the preliminary rounds and push the DDCA into the finals.
The DDCA fought through a horror batting innings in Sunday’s grand final to emerge triumphant as its 108 all out held up against the Diamond Valley CA’s 88 dismissed.
His efforts also earned him the captaincy of the VMCU squad along with three other DDCA players – all bowling options – for him to dish out the overs in the representative side this weekend.
Quirk joins Hallam Kalora Park pair Jordan Hammond and Jagveer Hayer as well as North Dandenong seamer Liam Dudding in the VMCU squad to clash with the Victorian Country Cricket League (VCCL) on Sunday 8 February at Footscray-Edgewater’s Mervyn Hughes Oval, commencing at 10.30am.
