A Jekyll and Hyde scenario

NARRE WARREN BOWLS
DIVISION 1
PLAYING away at Burden Park the side is like ‘the little girl with the curl’ – when they are good they are very good… but when they are off their game they are horrible. With a chance of improving their position before the finals, they let themselves down again only winning one rink going down 77/94. A big improvement will be required in the remaining two games. Karen Murray, Keith Mark, Rod Lane and Ian Brotherton lost 21/23. Wilma Haringsma, Paul O’Day, Wilma Stevenson and Iain Stevenson lost 18/20. Shirley Bell, Janis Dukats, Erik Luyters and Neville Bradley won 26/18. While Ernesto Vergara, Andy Kidd, Jimmy Millar and Jeff Parker lost 12/33.
DIVISION 3
PLAYING at home against Cardinia Waters, Division 3 once again showed some good form with three rinks up and a good 88/69 win against a top-four opponent. That’s another step towards avoiding relegation, moving them into seventh place on the ladder. Glen Cadman, Reg Young, Stan Robinson and John Heathcote won 31/16. Carl Lapham, Ray Pigdon, Geoff Miller and Reg Johnstone won 23/16. Michael Graham, Fred Fox, Arthur Scheurer and Greg Cowan won 18/13. While G. Cadman, Luka Klarica, Graham Dodd, Kerry Davis and Norm Hosmer also won 24/16.
DIVISION 7
DIVISION 7 playing at home to Dandenong Club had a hard-fought win by just nine shots 75/66, and were lucky to hold on for the points to maintain their spot on top of the ladder. With only one rink up and one rink square after leading all day disappointed at not holding on for a win Phil Howard, Gail Bowman, Ethel VanMaanen and Micki Horton drew 18/18. Len O’Brien, Steve Boyd, Peter Castricum and John Green won 25/11. Travis Moore, Jim Sheahan, Rick Hoare and Brian Fraser lost 15/16. And Arthur Fitt, Janice Moran, Mathew Fitt and Damian Brick also lost 17/21.
DIVISION 8
NARRE Warren played way to Dandenong City with six changes in a side that has been changing weekly. The selectors face the challenge of a rotation system to give as much experience to as many bowlers as possible. With only eight players each week it becomes a very difficult task. It has been a tough season for our fourth side with both rinks losing by 16 shots, 29/45. Helen McCarthy, Leo McGeary, Ern Rodrigues and Andy Tobler lost 12/22, while Zade Bulmer, Stan Bulmer, Peter Rouse and Peter Pater lost 17/23.
TUESDAY
TUESDAY’S Division 1 played at home against Cardinia Waters and with all rinks up ran out winners 77/34 by 43 shots. What a difference a week makes after the 37 shot loss last week, a huge turnaround of 80 shots. It shows the inconsistency of the side this year – not being able to string wins together – but the side will remain in the top Division next season. Keith Mark, Judy Naughton, Jimmy Millar and Ian Brotherton won 29/7. Wilma Haringsma, Enid Gibb, Rod Lane and Eric Sydenham won 21/15. Shirley Bell, Andy Kidd, Wilma Stevenson and Iain Stevenson won 27/12.
Tuesday’s Division 3 had another disappointing day at Berwick with all three rinks losing for an overall score of 67/49. After some very good results early in the season the side has lost two of their last three games to drop to fourth on the ladder and must beat Pakenham next round to regain some confidence leading into the finals. Carl Lapham, Truus Henneman, Ethel Van Maanen and Micki Horton lost 15/22. Nancy Pugh, Pam Uren, Gary Gilchrist and Ray Pigdon lost 14/18. While Len O’Brien, Janice Moran, Andy Tobler and John Green lost 20/27.
