THE final of the Denis Crowley Summer Cup was played on Saturday at Cardinia Beaconhills Golf Links with siblings Mathew and Michael French winning the trophy after defeating Noel Pye and Paul Jones 6/5.
Despite the heavy downpour on Saturday morning, 99 players took to the course for the member’s stableford competition. David Crowe (4) won the A Grade with 39 points while Peter Lockman (15) returned the best score in the B Grade with 40 points on a count-back and Paul Carroll (21) was the C-Grade winner with an impressive 43 stableford points.
Playing off a handicap of 23, Ken Grigg returned the best score in Sunday’s stableford competition with 41 points to runner-up Peter Murcott (26) with 39 points on a count-back.
MIDWEEK
A FIELD of 74 took to the course for Tuesday’s stableford competition with Shane Wheat (6) winning the A Grade with 40 points. Brad Mars (20) won the B Grade with 43 points.
The final of the Grand Masters Championship was played on Thursday and once again Roy Solomon won the Championship – his fifth year running.
LADIES
IT WAS Tracey Brown, who has been playing very well over the summer, who won the Betty Forster Summer Cup on Wednesday. While Adrienne Wilson (40) won Wednesday competition with 39 points.
