CARDINIA BEACONHILLS GOLF

THE annual ‘Lefties versus Righties’ stableford event was played on Saturday at Cardinia Beaconhills with two teams of 11 players competing for the title. It seems the righties had the upper hand this year winning with 412 points to the lefties’ 396 points.
In Saturday’s Stableford event 144 players competed and it was Joe Marsiglio (6) who took out the A-Grade competition with 41 points. Doug Rowe (15) won the B Grade with 40 points on a count-back and Robyn Lang (32) returned the best score in the C Grade with 43 stableford points.
Congratulations to Denise Toon (33) who won the Dawn Shaw Matchplay on Saturday after defeating Robyn Lang (32) two-up.
Heather Hamilton and Graham Kelly weren’t deterred by the hot and humid conditions on Sunday, returning the best score in the mixed MF Ahern Canadian Foursomes of 68.75 from runners-up Jann and Eric Wilson with 70.625.
Troy McDermott and Nathan Hamilton won Sunday’s four-ball aggregate stableford competition with 79 points.
It was only August last year when Gary Jollands was celebrating his hole-in-one on the sixth, so it was a feeling of ‘déjà vu’ when he did it again on Sunday on exactly the same hole!
MIDWEEK
Terry Geddes (13) returned the best A-Grade score in Tuesday’s stableford competition with 40 points, while Ron Baldock (24) won the B Grade with an impressive 41 points – 67 players competed.
Playing off a handicap of four, David Crowe returned the best score in the A Grade in Thursday’s competition with an impressive 43 points on a count-back. Brian Taylor (27) won the B Grade with 41 points.
Friday’s Stableford competition was won by George Grant (21) with 35 points on a count-back.
LADIES
The Nancy Cockram Summer Matchplay was held on Wednesday with Lee James winning the matchplay and Heather Hamilton taking runner up.
The Women’s Phoenix Plate stableford was won by Libby Michell (25) with 38 points.
