Top division drops the ball

THE Saturday Division 2 pennant team was away to Pakenham in round 18 and – after a day the club would rather put behind them – had a disastrous day for a side in the four.
They did not cover themselves with glory in the last game before the finals and went down by 49 shots. A big improvement will be needed next week in the knock-out semi-final.

Division 3 at home to Dandenong Club were given a lesson by a much superior side, showing why they are ladder leaders, with all rinks going down a drubbing by 48 shots 59/107
The side faces relegation next season – a disappointing end to the season.

Division 7 played on the treacherous Ferntree Gully carpet and handled the green without any problems, proving why they have been on top of the ladder for most of the season – with all rinks up – and running out winners by 51 shots 113/62.
A great lead-up to a home final next week against Pakenham.
The side has worked hard this season and one more win will be the icing on the cake.

It has been a tough season for the number four side with changes every week but the guys have been valiant in their endeavours, and what they may have lacked in skill they more than made up with their enthusiasm.

In round 18 of Tuesday pennant, Division 1 finished the season with a good win over Cranbourne at home by 18 shots, 61/43.
A good finish to end the season, but disappointing in finishing seventh on the ladder with seven wins and nine losses – but safe in Division 1 and the side can look forward to improving their position next season.

Division 3 played on the fast carpet at Ferntree Gully, a surface that brings frustration to most visiting clubs.
The side was not disgraced. Despite all rinks losing by the margin of 14 shots, it was not a disaster as the side fought it out after being well down at the lunch break.
The side had a good season finishing fourth and will play Mulgrave in a knockout semi-final next Tuesday at Mulgrave.
