Train driver charged after accident

A NARRE Warren train driver has been charged over the death of a teenager who fell from a station platform under a moving train last year.
The 40-year-old man was charged last Thursday with conduct endangering life and conduct endangering a person.
According to The Age, Glen Iris man Mitchell Callaghan, 18, died just before midnight on 22 February in 2013 while attempting to board a train as it departed platform one at Heyington station in Toorak.
It’s understood police at the time believed Mr Callaghan had slipped and fallen on the tracks. The station platform was upgraded by Metro last year after a petition was launched by Mr Callaghan’s family and friends to raise awareness about the dangerous gap.The driver is due to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 11 March.
