A season of achieving goals

NARRE WARREN BOWLS

AFTER a successful season with three of Narre Warren’s six sides playing finals – one going down in the semi last Tuesday – the two Saturday sides after winning their respective semi-finals on Saturday played their sectional final on Sunday.
Division 2 travelling to Cranbourne to take on Hampton Park in a local derby and after a close game could not hang on and went down on three rinks to lose by 11 shots, 82-93. It was a great effort by Narre Warren’s top side making the finals for the second time in two years since promotion to Division 2.
Results: K. Murray/K. Mark/J. Heathcote/E. Sydenham lost 11/25. W. Haringsma/C. Lapham/P. O’Day/I. Stevenson won 27/16. S. Bell/A. Dawson/E. Luyters/N. Bradley lost 21/28. E. Vergara/M. Fitt/J. Millar/N. Hosmer lost 21/24.
It was a great season finish for Division 7, clear on top of the ladder and winning the important semi which gained them promotion to Division 6 next season. They travelled to Waverley Golf to take on the strong Mulgrave side and after a game worthy of a final with scores close all day came home with wet sails. With three rinks up they just failed to make up the difference in the end and went down by six shots, 73-79. However the disappointment of losing was less painful knowing their goal was achieved.
Results: J. Moran/R. Young/E. Van Maanen/M. Horton won 21/19. L. O’Brien/S. Boyd/J. Dukats/J. Green lost 13/33. G. Cadman/J. Sheahan/R. Hoare/B. Fraser won 16/15. A. Fitt/G. Dodd/P. Castricum/D. Brick won 23/12.
A stellar season for Narre bowlers, congratulations to all who made it through to division and region finals.
