House parties

Police push to clamp down on illegal parties after being pelted with bottles…

Vacant homes for sale online have been targetted by illegal revellers.
In the latest incident police were pelted with bottles when they attended a party on Saturday night.
They faced 100 unruly youths when they arrived in Hoyle Court, Cranbourne, and the incident left broken glass across the road.
Police say young people are organising parties in vacant properties, some of which have been advertised for sale online.
They said the party was poorly supervised and out of control.
Narre Warren Detective Senior Sergeant John Bergin said the youths seem to be targeting vacant houses, some of which have been advertised on sites such as Gumtree.
He said “several” of these parties were being held.
Police said the party is “one of many” that have occurred in the recent weeks and they appear to be hosted by the same group of youths.
They said the youths appear to have forced entry to some of the houses, causing significant damage to the properties and stealing items.
Police have issued a reminder to people to remain vigilant when advertising properties for lease or sale, and to be mindful of security at the properties, especially those in the City of Casey area.
They asked that neighbours who notice parties occurring in their area report these to police, before or after they have got out of hand.
Police also reminded parents who plan to host legitimate parties to report them to local through the Party Safe register, and ensure that they are adequately supervised.
A 16-year-old boy from Lynbrook was arrested and charged with trespassing and possessing cannibas following Saturday night’s party.
He was bailed to appear at the Dandenong Children’s Court on 8 May.
