BERWICK Montuna has chalked up its fourth consecutive Junior Pennant in Peninsula District golf.
Club junior Pennant Manager Ed Nicolette described the flag as an especially impressive achievement, given the year was expected to have been a re-building one with a mainly new and young team.
Mr Nicolette said the win was a tribute to the club’s commitment to junior golf and the hard work put in by not just the players but a dedicated band of parents and caddies.
While the last round of the season was something of an anti-climax with a loss at Mornington, Berwick Montuna had done enough in the earlier rounds to finish the season one point ahead of their nearest rivals after Sorrento and Portsea drew their last match.
The team consisted of Bailey Clapton (captain), Tom Lidgerwood, Dalton Crawford, Nick Steel, Matt Steel, Corey Wakeman, Priya Chand and Karnak Chand.
Mr Nicolette, in thanking team members for their efforts and dedication described each and every player as “a real credit to our club”.
“And as this will be my last year after 12 years, I feel it has been a privilege to have been associated with so many outstanding young people. Hopefully there will be many more flags to come.”
