Market day for mums

THOSE who are looking for a fun day out for the whole family that isn’t going to break the budget should try DJ’s Market.
The markets are held at the Oakgrove Community Centre, 89-101 Oakgrove Drive, Narre Warren South, on the second Saturday of each month from 9am to 2pm.
And, according to organiser Sharyn Holt, the markets, which began in August 2014, offer something for every member of the family.
“It’s a fun day out for the whole family without it costing the earth – there really is something for everyone,” she said.
“There is great food, terrific stalls and visit from the market mascot DJ the Lion as well as pony rides, henna and face painting.
“And this month is our special Mother’s Day market on 9 May and to celebrate the first 50 mums will receive a free goodie bag.”
She said DJ’s is Narre Warren’s first and only community market and has a wide variety of stalls selling everything from candles to children’s clothes, hair accessories, jewellery, health and beauty, greeting cards, craft, plants, essential oils, chocolate and soaps.
“Our catch-phrase is ‘we’re no ordinary market’ and this is because we not only offer a great shopping experience for the adults but we have fun activities for the kids including pony rides and kids’ craft workshops,” she said.
“For just $2 you enter our treasure hunt. Visit all 30 stallholders on the card and gather treasures along the way then pop your card in the draw to win great prizes.
“The $2 goes toward a donation to the Melanoma Institute of Australia in my mother’s memory – our donation will be announced at our birthday market on 8 August.
“For each $10 you spend you receive a raffle ticket to win one of three gift bags.”
