Surfing for stolen valuables

THIEVES who stole $90,000 worth of surf brand valuables from a store in Cranbourne Centro last month are believed to have been involved in robbing a surf clothes delivery truck in Narre Warren South just five days earlier.
Thieves broke into Planet Surf, in the Cranbourne Centro shopping centre, through the store’s roof on Monday 23 March between 11pm and 7am the next morning, fleeing with roughly $90,000 worth of surf brand watches, wallets and sunglasses.
It’s understood CCTV cameras weren’t operational at the time as the shopping centre was undergoing renovations.
Five days earlier a truck – used to transport surf clothing to the Planet Surf store – was broken into while it was parked in Maple Leaf Avenue in Narre Warren South.
The truck’s lock had been cut and roughly 15 to 20 boxes of Billabong and Hurley merchandise were stolen during the robbery, believed to have taken place between 5pm on Tuesday 17 and 4.30pm on Wednesday 18 March.
A resident from Maple Leaf Avenue later reported seeing roughly 15 empty boxes strewn in a nearby front yard.
