Pleather to meet you

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

A CONFESSION or two from a pop princess mixed with a little bit of fashion brought in the crowds at Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping centre on Thursday.
DANCER, singer, X-factor judge, child star and fashion icon, Dannii Minogue confessed and obsessed over her past style blunders and current must have winter favourites.
Ms Minogue discussed her love for 70’s inspired fashion and a lazy day spent in her tracksuit pants, with her pop-icon sister, Kylie.
“Most people don’t believe me when I tell them about our ugg boots, really bad track suits and woollen jumpers that might have been shrunk a bit, but that’s because they’ll never see it,” she told the crowd.
“We’re just really daggy,” she said.
“There’s many a day when I’m dressed very badly and I really revel in it, I enjoy it, I put on the track suit that’s got holes in it and should be thrown out,” she said.
After admitting the 80’s and 90’s were decades of bad dressing for the Young Talent Time star, Ms Minogue discussed her love for fake leather and her thoughts on Instagram.
“It’s all moved from the fashion pages of magazines to Instagram and it’s so important because it’s put it in the hands of the dresser,” she said.
With phones and cameras flashing at the pint-sized triple threat (hey she sings, dances and acts!), Dannii joked about crowd members uploading photos to instagram right there and then.
Fashion bloggers, Le Blonde Fox and the Divine Wanderer sat front row alongside 17-year-old Rena Talarico, who won a Facebook competition to meet Dannii after the fashion parade.
Senior fashion editor at Sunday Style magazine and former Vogue fashion editor, Meg Gray co-hosted the parade with Dannii Minogue and Ant Simpson and discussed neutrals, sneakers, sports luxe, hats for men, tassels, animal print, shirt dresses and clutches.
Ms Minogue talked of her love for a good shirt dress saying they are very easy to wear especially when day runs into night.
“I think anything goes, putting it all together makes it fun,” she said.
But when it came to the winter ‘must have’ hand bag, Dannii had other ideas.
“I can’t fit my keys in the tiny clutches,” she said, calling her set of keys a big “blob”.
After the style show, 30 lucky fans got to meet Ms Minogue and long-term follower, Patricia Armstrong shed a tear over the excitement.
“I’m a singer because of her, I’ve been a fan since I was eight-years-old, I grew up watching her on Young Talent Time,” Ms Armstrong said.
The Hampton Park resident got a few signatures from the pop princess, including her Grease program from 1998 and Dannii Minogue’s greatest hits album.
“I hope she tours one day, that would be amazing,” Ms Armstrong said.
The petite pop icon admitted her teenage years were probably her worst dressed but blames entering London straight out of Young Talent Times shimmering dress up box.
But the glitter hasn’t travelled too far with black sparkly stilettos Dannii chose to wear on the night.
