Leading the way

I write regarding a recent article Dog Park Plea (Berwick News, 7 May).
I would like to commend this young lady (Angelina Whinney-Smith) for her wonderful suggestion.
As a member of the community and as a dog owner and dog lover, I think this suggestion of a safe, off-lead park that is also enjoyable for humans is an amazing and brilliant suggestion.
Like Angelina, my dog is not safe to be allowed off lead and to have somewhere where I could exercise her off lead would bring us both great joy as well as the benefits to our physical and emotional health.
Currently, there are no suitable areas for such activities other than the dog school in Fox Road.
However, this area is not without its limitations and I implore our city council to consider Miss Whinney-Smith’s plan seriously and source appropriate land fervently.
I’m sure this young lady will achieve her dream to become a veterinarian in the future and I can only hope and wish that there are more young people as community minded!
