Miners climb out of hole

THE Berwick Miners have bounced back from four straight losses to defeat the Melbourne Uni Royals 20-0 in their Gridiron Victoria Division 1 clash at home on Sunday.
Playing at Rawling Field in Endeavour Hills for the first time since their thrilling 13-12 Round 2 victory over the Western Crusaders, the Miners showed there’s just no place like home.
Despite being ravaged by injuries for much of the season so far, Mel Martin’s Miners controlled the first half on Sunday – taking a 20-0 lead into the break, before a scoreless second half from both sides.
The Casey side has a bye this week before heading to Henry Turner Reserve in Footscray to take on the Crusaders once again on 28 June from 1.30pm.
The Miners are currently fifth on the Division 1 ladder, within striking distance of the fourth-placed South Eastern Predators.
