Glen runs up impressive score

AFTER a couple of quiet weeks score wise, Glen Brown claimed the score of the week with a big 47 points on Sunday playing off 21 at Berwick Montuna Golf Club.
At this time of the year when the ball is not running, 47 points is an impressive score – Fabian Stranges’ round of 43 points on Saturday was the next best for the week showing just how well Glen must have played on Sunday.
There was three 42s posted over the week – Andrew Clapton and Dave Ryrie won A and B Grade respectively on Saturday with 42, and Ray Simpson finished runner up on Sunday behind Glen with 42!
The Ladies had a good scoring week also – Mary Barrot recorded a 41 on Saturday to claim the Ladies competition, Julie Percival had 37 on Sunday and Carol Ronalds returned a +1 on Wednesday.
Fabian Stranges’ 43 on Saturday included the NTP on the 13th giving him a double, with Julie Percival claiming a double on Sunday complementing her 37 with the NTP on the ninth and Ken Withers doubled on Thursday winning the competition with 38 points as well as the NTP on the ninth.
Denis Barrot took out the Olds and Bolds on Tuesday with 41 points giving the household its second win of the week.
Last Thursday Les Reedman recorded a double with NTPs on the ninth and 13th holes, and Bradley McGill finished runner up on 39 points playing off one which equates to a 67 off the stick.
Simon ‘Moose’ Bryant won his second Green Jacket last Thursday with 40 points and went to Rich River on the weekend as the raging favourite but was unable to back up!
John Thomas also won his second jacket with 37 points.
Closest NTP for the week went to Gavin Duncan who had a hole in one on the fourth hole on Tuesday, having aced the 13th hole last March – congratulations Gavin!
Outside of Gavin’s ace, we had Mal Lang finishing 54cms from the 18th, Fabian Stranges left it 73cm from the 13th and Harry Faeller was 94cms away on the ninth – all last Saturday!
Finally, well done to the righties who managed to overcome the lefties in last Saturday’s Jim Graham Memorial event.
