Comets’ own boom boom raider

By JARROD POTTER

WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE
CASEY Comets picked up their third draw of the season, holding back Sandringham in a 1-1 slog on Friday night.
Laura Croft raided the Sandringham defence to rocket an almighty strike into the net at the 24 minute mark, giving the Comets hope of their first victory in 2015.
Holding a 1-0 lead held at the half, a rare position for Casey to be in this season, the challenge became a whole lot tougher in the 72nd minute.
The draw lifts Casey from the bottom of the WPL ladder and the side remains two matches inside the relegation zone with seven rounds left in the season.
Casey heads to Knox Regional Football Centre on Sunday evening to battle Booroondara from 6pm.

MELBOURNE CITY’S Wade Dekker knocked in a solitary goal, proving enough to brush aside Dandenong City in a 0-1 defeat. Despite the best efforts of Dandy strikers Sean Seavill and Shaun Filipovic, in the battle of Cities, Melbourne City was too mighty. Dandenong City sits sixth and heads to Murray United this weekend.
