THE police bomb squad was sent to a Doveton property on Saturday night after police were called to the address.
Police arrived at the Rose Drive property about 5.30pm, where they spoke to the male occupant.
Smoke and flames were later seen coming from the house and the 63-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment.
The blaze was extinguished by CFA crews.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious, and the man was believed to be the only person in the house at the time.
