ONE night Terry Hornbuckle drove through a car park dividing kerb at The Parkhill Plaza shopping centre because he didn’t see it.
The Berwick resident said he didn’t see the divide because there was no line marking paint to decipher the grey road from the grey kerb.
Shopping at the Berwick plaza since he moved into the area nine years ago, Mr Hornbuckle said the ‘badly designed’ car park is just getting worse.
“It wasn’t set out very well from the beginning, in my opinion, and more and more people are shopping there, and all the lines need to be repainted,” he told Star News.
Mr Hornbuckle said the pedestrian crossing lines were very faint, and would like to see numerous changes made to the car park.
“There are three entrances and two don’t have left signs- they must have been damaged and haven’t been replaced for quite some time,” he said.
After making contact with the centre, Mr Hornbuckle received an email saying the landlord will be contacted regarding his concerns, and to get in touch with them with any queries in the interim.
Mr Hornbuckle has since made contact, with no reply, and is concerned the unmaintained car park will continue to cause more accidents.
“It’s a worry, and I don’t want to see anybody knocked over on the pedestrian crossing,” he said.
