Fresh faces of art

THE Casey Contemporary Artists’ Showcase has returned to Casey’s Civic Centre Art Space.
Now in its third year, a variety of local art is on display.
City of Casey mayor Mick Morland said the Casey Contemporary Artists’ Showcase was a highlight of the exhibition calendar and encouraged residents to visit.
“The council had a wonderful response from contemporary artists wishing to be part of this exhibition and as a result, we’ve put together a stunning collection of works in a range of mediums including printmaking, painting, illustration, photography and textiles,” Cr Morland said.
“This year’s exhibition features pieces from 18 local artists, from emerging talent still at secondary school to experienced artists who have practised for many years.
“To tie in with this year’s theme, each artwork explores the notion of Place, from physical surrounds to imagined landscapes.
“The high-quality of the works on display showcases and celebrates the extent of talent across the region in arts practice and I encourage the community to show their support for local artists and head along to this exhibition.”
The exhibition can be viewed at the art space, located in the Civic Centre foyer, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, between Monday and Friday, 8am to 6pm.
