Great talent on show

THE City of Casey’s finest performers will gather for the 2015 edition of ‘Casey’s Got Talent’ on Saturday 24 October at the River Gum Performing Arts Centre.
Twenty-one local acts reached the final after preliminary auditions and River Gum Ward Councillor and event co-organiser Wayne Smith encouraged residents to book their tickets for the main event.
“The auditions were of a high-calibre, and the final is shaping up to be a wonderful event, showcasing the many talented individual and group performers from across Casey,” Cr Smith said.
Springfield Ward Councillor and fellow co-organiser Louise Berkelmans said the concert promoted the growth of the arts sector.
“Casey’s Got Talent is one way council supports and celebrates our wonderful performing arts community, by giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent, gain experience and exposure and receive recognition,” Cr Berkelmans said.
The event is run in a not-for-profit capacity and money raised will be awarded by the council to charity.
“Proceeds from the concert will go to Kids Diabetes Camps, which run camps for children with type 1 diabetes and their parents, to bring families together, facilitate peer support and to reduce stress and isolation,” she said.
The event will commence at 7pm and tickets can be purchased by visiting www.casey.vic.gov.au/caseysgottalent, or at the door.
