Suspicious fires hours apart

POLICE are looking for clues after two suspicious fires were lit in Casey less than four hours apart.
The first fire was lit in Balsam Court, Clyde, about 11pm on Sunday 25 October, while the second fire was started in Bemersyde Drive in Berwick about 2.40am the following morning.
At the time of the Clyde fire, which was lit in a residential area still under construction, three people were seen fleeing the blaze.
The Berwick fire was started in a reserve with leaves and tanbark used as fuel.
“Here we go again, it’s the start of the fire season and we have this sort of thing at the start of every summer,” Detective Senior Constable Michelle Chiang said.
“People need to be vigilant.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
