PEOPLE themselves are to blame if they consume alcohol, drugs or gamble, yet they should not be solely blamed if the pressure to consume such products is encouraged by the advertising industry whose sole purpose is to promote such products to help us ‘weak willed’ people.
The government can help by legislating against the advertising of such products in a similar way as it has with tobacco.
No comment is needed as to how successful this has been in reducing tobacco consumption and improving people’s wellbeing, especially in respect to lung cancer.
