CASEY cricket clubs are set to benefit from a State Government funding boost.
The government, along with Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia, this week launched the Community Cricket Program – On Common Ground – which will see clubs across the state able to share in a total of $12.4 million.
The program is set to help Casey clubs with their major infrastructure projects, while also going towards targeted cricket programs.
“Casey has a proud history when it comes to our national summer pastime, but we need to keep investing so the game grows,” Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said.
“Our status as the sporting capital doesn’t happen by chance.
“We are committed to building the best opportunities for Victorians – from the grassroots to the Test arena.”
The government committed $10 million towards the total, with $1.2 million from Cricket Victoria and $1.2 million from Cricket Australia.
Sport Minister John Eren said the State was doing its bit to “uncover the next Peter Siddle”.
