Design students make good impression

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

FOUNTAIN Gate Secondary held its inaugural Design and Technology exhibition this week.
The event showcased work from students in Years 7 to 12, with ex-staff and former principal Vicki Walters attending the expo.
Emma Clarke, an ex-assistant principal, opened the exhibition and summed up the values of Technology and Design with its links to literacy and numeracy.
Design and Technology teacher Anne-Marie Burnet echoed Ms Clarke’s sentiments.
“All the students can be very proud of their work,” Ms Burnet said.
“FGSC students prepared and served canapes throughout the evening.
“The catering was delicious and there certainly was plenty of food for everyone so the guests could help themselves to the delicious yummies.
“The students paraded their garments that they designed and made down the catwalk for all to see.”
Several students were awarded prizes at the expo, with Year 10 student Chloe Hickey taking out the overall award for her piece, the ‘Deck of Cards Dress’.
“Congratulations to those who did not win a prize this time, but I hope they all continue to appreciate and endeavour to apply what they learn in Design and Technology in future projects,” Ms Burnet said.
