Exchange of cultures

MULTICULTURAL Commissioner and former newsreader Helen Kapalos was a welcome guest to the City of Casey this month.
The newly appointed chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and journalist was the guest speaker at a special community forum convened by Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley, where residents from a variety of different cultures were given the opportunity to discuss a range of issues.
Ms Graley said the community was thrilled at the chance to meet and chat with Helen.
“Our wonderfully diverse and growing local community faces many unique challenges and it is so very important that we all work together to address them,” she said.
“I am very pleased that so many people from so many backgrounds got to meet the new chairperson of the Victorian Multicultural Commission right here in Casey.
“Ms Kapalos took a real interest in what people were saying, displaying such genuine compassion and warmth as she took the time to meet and hear from everyone.
“We had a fantastic discussion about the issues facing our community and I know that we will all continue to work together to make our community great.”
