Night-time cat burglar strikes

ANOTHER Casey family has fallen victim to a home invasion while they were fast asleep.
Burglars managed to steal a mobile phone and some cash before they were disturbed by one of the family of four.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Darron Hedge from Narre Warren police told Star News: “This is just one of many.”
The raiders entered the Berwick home on Skyline Way through an unlocked back door at 3.40am on Saturday 9 January.
With no sign of forced entry police suspect they jumped the rear fence and opened the glass sliding door.
“It’s still going on,” Sen Sgt Hedge said of these types of raids.
“It was the flavour of the month last year and it’s not going to stop overnight.
“We still need people to be vigilant and make sure they lock garage and rear doors.”
Sen Sgt Hedge said the constant and high number of home invasions around Casey has slowed since a number of arrests were made late last year.
“It’s not at the same level as it was but we are still getting it,” he said.
