Armed robberies linked?

POLICE are investigating whether an armed robbery in Clayton South this week is linked to another armed robbery at a Hampton Park fast food store the night before.
The first armed robbery occurred at the fast food outlet on the South Gippsland Highway in Hampton Park, about 1.15am on 25 January.
Almost 24 hours later, just before midnight on the same day, two balaclava-clad men walked into a Clayton South bottle-shop armed with a machete and an axe and demanded money from the attendant.
After taking an amount of cash and bottles of alcohol the two men fled the Centre Road store on foot, running along the street and then down Melaleuca Drive.
No employees were injured in the incident.
CCTV shows one of the men tripped over on Melaleuca Drive and smashed the alcohol bottles.
Police have released CCTV images and video footage from the Clayton South incident.
The first man is described as African, tall and has a slim build. At the time he was wearing a white business shirt, dark trousers and black, high-top runners with white soles.
The second man is described as Caucasian and shorter than the first man. At the time he was wearing a hooded jumper, dark baggy pants and black Nike runners with white soles.
Anyone who recognises the men, or who has more information, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
